A Courtesan’s Guide to Getting Your Man by Celeste Bradley and Susan Donovan

Out of all the books in the romance genre, we the Book Courtesans had the most difficulty deciding on the book to start our reviews with. There are just so many amazing books to choose from. But after much hemming and hawing, we realized that with a story like “A Courtesan’s Guide to Getting Your Man,” and (well not to brag but) the perfect title that goes with our haven, what other direction could we take but review this book first?

So without further ado, may we present the review for

On the surface Piper Chase-Pierpont seems to be your typical museum curator, but underneath all that geekiness is a pure, passionate woman.  Any guy would be a fool to walk away from her.  But that is just what Mick Malloy did ten years ago.  Never mind the fact that he was trying to protect her.  She thinks that he pretty much ran screaming in the other direction. So, of course, on what was already one of the worst days of her life, Mick shows back up. Ah, Fate, how cruel you can be.

Piper is in the middle of working on a project to save her job, but the woman that she is building the exhibit around just happens to have a double life.  When Piper finds Ophelia Harrington’s secret diaries, she knows her career is probably toast.  The woman to whom all young girls are taught about and look up to, had a secret, sordid past.  However, even though her job is on the line, Piper is determined to find out if the Blackbird’s diaries can be used to help her get her man.

Ladies, all I can say is that A Courtesan’s Guide to Get Your Man will make you swoon with pleasure.  These ladies sure know how to write their romances.  This book was hot and steamy, both in Piper’s contemporary setting and in Ophelia’s time period.  Opehlia’s diaries captured my interest from the moment the first passage was introduced, so I can just imagine how they fascinated Piper to the point that nothing else existed.

Ophelia’s masked man had me bewitched.  I had to know more about him.  But obviously, as this courtesan well knows, that was the point of the mask.  To remain a mystery. And it was enchanting to watch as Piper worked to “get Mick Malloy” with the help of the diaries.  The poor man had no chance once Piper put her mind to it.

Ladies, run out and get this book.  It has all the elements that this masked courtesan has come to love in a romance novel, intrigue, transformation, and good steamy sex scenes

Adoringly Yours,

The Masked Courtesan
